Le Pneu Michelin Star
In the early1900's, there were fewer than 3,000 cars on the roads of France. To increase the demand for cars and of course car tires, brothers Édouard and André Michelin (the founders of Michelin Tire) published a guide for French motorists, the Michelin Guide. Nearly 35,000 copies of this first, free edition of the guide were distributed. It provided information to motorists, such as maps, tire repair and replacement instructions, car mechanics listings, hotels, and petrol stations throughout France.
From these humble beginnings designed to promote the driving of cars, well really the using of tires, to today the world's leading authority on restaurants and restaurant ratings is a tire company. It's fair to say, it's been one heck of a tasty trip!
Today, The Michelin Guides are a series of guide books that continue to be published by the French tire company Michelin. The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments worldwide. The acquisition or loss of a star or stars can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant or a chef.
"Michelin Tire" in French is "Le Pneu Michelin"
Since our motorcoach "Coach Addy" rides on "Le Pneu Michelin" and it's our aspiration to create exemplary culinary creations and fine dining with food sourced from where we travel, we decided to have a little fun and create out own whimsical" "Le Pneu Michelin Star" as the title of our efforts in our kitchen and our experiences on the road.
Bon appetit.
